Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside Guildford Borough Council to provide them with a Home Check Project Officer on a 6 month initial contract which may be extended.


This role is 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday and offers a pay rate of £16-£20 per hour. This may be negotiable dependent on experience.


As a successful Home Check Project Officer, your duties will be:

  • Respond to enquiries from residents of Guildford and Waverley seeking to take up services offered by the Home Improvement Agency
  • To provide a client led technical service for elderly disabled and vulnerable clients seeking to access the Home Improvement Agency
  • To provide advice on the eligibility criteria for funding works to privately owned and tenanted homes
  • Maintain suitable financial and client records and ensure all payments are made for Handyperson service
  • Conduct financial means testing of grant applicants
  • Liaise with clients, the Handyperson contractors, care and repair staff and partners to ensure all open cases are progressed to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Order equipment for use by the Handyperson Service and the Home Improvement Agency


To be considered, you will have the following knowledge/experience:

  • Understanding and appreciation of the needs of older, disabled and vulnerable individuals and households.
  • Knowledge of Home Improvement Agency services is desirable
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service excellence
  • Skills and experience of Word, Excel and Email
  • Access to own transport during working hours and a valid UK driving licence
