 Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside Southwark Council to hire a Junior Power Bi Developer on a contract basis.


To be responsible for the maintenance and development of existing Power BI solutions that have been approved and used within the division.  The role’s primary purpose is focused on the technical aspects of utilising Power BI to its fullest potential, techniques and technologies to convert our data from current sources into visual and insightful management information.  Working with the Management Information Unit, and Children and Families managers and front line staff, this role will assist in building meaningful dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide business information concluding in actionable insights.

The Junior BI developer will collaborate closely with the senior BI developer to translate business requirements into visual and accurate management information.


·         Good understanding of the national and local context for children’s services, including Early Help, Safeguarding and Looked After Children including Care Leavers.

  • Good understanding of legislation, policy and the regulatory frameworks governing Children’s Services.
  • Good analytical and numerical skills and a demonstrable ability to work with datasets.


  1. Experience of performance management, data cleanliness, quality assurance processes and operations in a high performing team.
  2. Experience of translating business requirements to technical solutions.
  3. Experience of linking data from variety of corporate data sources and perform required transformations in Excel/Power BI/Tableau.
  4. Experience of performing data analysis using DAX.
  5. Ability to develop reporting solutions that provide accessible information for business decision making.
  6. Understand the fundamentals of data preparation and data modelling necessary for the data visualisation process.
  7. Good understanding of relational database concepts and how BI solutions are built.
  8. Basic understanding of T-SQL or PL/SQL programming to collate data from multiple data source.
  9. Experience of data protection and safeguarding frameworks
  10. Ability to produce visually engaging performance information, quality intelligence and analysis products which support service improvement.
  11. Experience of using a range of software and systems relevant to children’s services in support of data extraction, manipulation, presentation and submission, for example:


o   Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Power Query);

o   Mosaic, Liquid Logic or similar MI systems,

o   BI tools (preferably PowerBI)
