We are looking for an experienced Programme Director to provide interim oversight to the London Smoking Cessation Transformation Programme, a joint initiative across London’s Local Authorities, and the development of a London Smoke Free Alliance.

The programme aims to raise awareness of smoking cessation support to Londoners, and offer additional services that complement local provision. A key element is Stop Smoking London, the public facing identity of the programme offering digital and telehealth services alongside award winning smoking cessation advertising campaigns.

The programme is also working with partners to establish a London-wide Smoke Free Alliance and support the development and delivery of a London tobacco control strategy. The Alliance aims to bring partners together enabling a whole system approach to achieving a smoke free London by 2029 with a specific focus on health inequalities.

This is an interim role whilst a substantive Programme Director post is being recruited to.

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of NHS, Local Authority and private/voluntary sector provision.
  • Understanding of the background to and aims of current health/social care policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement with a particular focus on tobacco control policy
  • Broad background knowledge and understanding of quality assurance systems and value for money approaches.
  • Detailed knowledge of commissioning policy, practice and legislative issues, including where relevant best practice in commissioning process and practice.
  • Proven experience of successfully managing and delivering complex, high value programmes and portfolios using a structured programme management process and programme management methods, principles, techniques and tools
  • Experience of successfully leading multi- disciplinary, multi stakeholder programme teams in a politically sensitive and complex environment
  • Experience of leading and delivering major procurement projects to achieve the best service outcomes.
  • Experience of working with Senior leaders and Board members on complex strategic issues
