Newham Council are currently working alongside Spencer Clarke Group to recruit an Public Health Practitioner

The roles are Full Time and operates on a 6+Month ongoing contract We are looking to get people started as soon as possible.

The Daily rate is £250 to £300 Negotiable dependent upon experience and we are hoping to get someone started as soon as possible.

Working hours – Full Time

Your Role;

  • Lead on work with key stakeholders across the system to develop and implement policies, strategies and initiatives to improve population health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities and to provide a population health prevention approach.  
  • Lead on specific areas of the work plan, ensuring products are high quality and delivered to agreed milestones.
  • Provide/support the development of public health expert advice on population health needs and proven interventions to improve health to politicians and senior stakeholders and influence political and partner decision making to maximise the use of evidence based to improve health outcomes.
  • Work with Commissioners and the Public Health Intelligence and Policy team to develop high quality needs assessment, analysis equity audits, evaluations, insight and literature reviews. 
  • Support the development of service specification and procurement strategies to maximise the demonstrable public health impact.
  • Review legislation, policy and evidence to inform local strategy, plans and service contracts and produce high quality evidence summaries.  
  • Monitor, audit and review services to ensure delivery, improve outcomes and support quality assurance.
  • The post holder will be expected to carry out data analysis and to present their findings both in reports and as presentations to large groups. 
  • Support Commissioners to evaluation local services and make recommendations for change, including discontinuing based on cost effectiveness.
  • Communicate information an advice that improves practices or services and provide constructive challenge as required to drive quality improvement.
  • Provide specialist public health advice to Commissioners on priorities for health and social care spending
  • Supporting the development of integrated commissioning models and the Accountable Care System.   


  • Public Health Practitioner registration
  • Evidence of delivery against the four Public Health Practitioner skill sets:
    • Professional and ethical practice
    • Technical competencies
    • Application of public health competencies
    • Underpinning skills and knowledge
