Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Senior Public Health Manager within the Public Health team at Bedford Borough Council
Contract – 3 month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.
Working hours – Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00
Rate of pay: £650 per day
About the role
This is a senior management role, either full time or part time, and the successful applicant’s work pattern will include on-call weekend shifts.
This is a highly complex role providing additional specialist reactive resource and strategic leadership in the local response to COVID-19 across Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Milton Keynes Council, working closely with partners.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective delivery of specialist public health advice to a wide range of stakeholders.
The post holder will:
• Provide specialist reactive health protection advice and leadership, including management of cases and outbreaks, as part of our COVID-19 response team;
• Provide strategic public health advice and leadership for Health Protection;
• Lead the delivery of local outbreak management plans;
• Provide leadership for broader, related health protection work areas such as immunisation and screening, seeking assurance from key stakeholders and ensuring appropriate plans are in place
The role requires a high level of intellectual rigour, negotiation skills, motivational ability and the flexibility to deal with complex public health issues as they arise. A high level of tact, diplomacy and political awareness is also required; along with the ability to understand organisational cultures, to enable effective working across organisational boundaries and to influence without direct authority.
