Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside West Berkshire Council to provide them with a Short Breaks Services Deputy Manager on a 3-6 month contract which is likely to be extended into an ongoing contract.

This role is 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday and offers a pay rate of £22-£26 per hour. This may be negotiable dependent on your experience.

 

As a successful Short Breaks Service Deputy Manager, your duties will be:

  • To ensure that children and young people have their needs met and the service meets the standards set in the Castle Gate Statement of Purpose and in the Children’s Home Regulations  
  • To ensure the provision of high standards of care practice and the achievement of defined quality standards for service delivery
  • To work with the Registered Manager to establish and maintain a competent, motivated and confident staffing team providing leadership, managerial direction, guidance and support to staff.
  • To undertake staff performance management including monthly supervision and annual appraisal
  • To ensure that the service is supported to develop effectively by producing service and individual work plans, setting targets, monitoring and appraising team and individual performance and producing regular performance reports for senior management and purchasers of the service.
  • To assist the Registered Manager with recruitment of staff and to oversee staff induction as required

To be considered for this position, you will have the following knowledge/experience:

  • A qualification which the registered provider considers to be equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • Experience of working within residential childcare settings i.e. social care, education, health or voluntary 
  • Some management experience in a children’s residential setting
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance and policy issues
