Meet the Team - Lauren Bailey

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Lauren Bailey, Management Consultant in our Accountancy and Finance department to discover what she loves about Spencer Clarke Group, how her career path led her to our door and what’s next in her career.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked here since September 2020 - it's gone so fast!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in Accountancy and Finance. I love working in this sector because I deal with varying levels of applicants and roles.

I work with my clients on a retained basis which means I use a much more rigorous search methodology and I dedicate more time and commitment to fulfilling individual positions. It can be challenging sometimes but the results make it worth it.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love helping people so connecting candidates with a new role is really satisfying. It is especially satisfying when the role is somewhere where they can progress into the future. More often than not, a position has been a temporary one but the candidate and business have been so well matched, it has turned into a permanent position.

I also love helping our clients; we have long running partnerships with countless businesses because they trust us to find and deliver the perfect candidates. Recruiting the right people is key to their business thriving so our clients need to be sure that their recruitment is taken care of by experienced people.

What motivates you at work?

For me, it’s about making a difference and changing people’s lives for the better. When a candidate is placed into a new job which they love, it has a huge and positive impact on their life.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Spencer Clarke Group is a strong, encouraging and fun environment to work in. The team is extremely supportive of each other; we all want each other to succeed and do well - it’s something you don’t always find in some workplaces!

I have worked in other agencies and I love how differently we do things here; everyone is so dedicated and passionate about what we do and that drives us all to work even harder.

Tell us about your career path so far.

After leaving Newman College with 4 A levels, I was offered a place at University to study Broadcast Journalism but I turned it down because I wanted to start my working career.

After a few entry level jobs at call centres and in HR, I started my career in recruitment. I specialised in industrial recruitment and it was during that time that I took a 5 week hiatus to travel America with my partner James. We explored Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, Washington and New York - and I loved it!

After America, my career led me to recruiting for office based positions but when Covid hit, I was made redundant; in hindsight it’s the best thing that could have happened to me as it led me to Spencer Clarke Group and I love it here.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Don’t laugh but they would say a turkey - I do a great impression of one!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

If I’m not at work, I am usually spending time with family; I love taking my younger siblings swimming, shopping or out for food. I also help to take care of my nan and grandad.

I love attending festivals and music events, and I go to the gym a few times a week.

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

When I was younger, I auditioned for the Royal Ballet School but I didn’t get in. I also used to perform cheerleading at Blackpool Tower and I won many medals and trophies!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

The dream is to have my own team one day. As we grow our Accountancy and Finance team, I will look forward to showing them the ropes to make our division even more successful in the future.
