Meet the Team - Sophie Payne
14 Feb, 20231-2 minutesWe recently caught up with Senior Consultant, Sophie Payne, to find out more about her love for fitness and what her biggest motivator at work is!
How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?
I have worked here at Spencer Clarke Group since March 2022. I was made to feel really welcome since my first day and I have settled into the company really well!
What markets do you specialise in?
I specialise in Health and Social Care and Housing recruitment covering the Midlands, Yorkshire, Wales, Manchester and Greater Manchester!
What do you love most about what you do?
I love interacting with clients to help them find the perfect person for their vacancy and I love being able to help someone who is looking for work, find their dream role.
I really enjoy being part of a team who are so supportive, hard-working and driven!
What motivates you at work?
I am currently saving to buy a house so I would say the financial benefits are a big motivator for me.
The feedback I receive from candidates who I have placed into work and are subsequently thriving in their role, also gives me great job satisfaction. This motivates me to help as many people as possible secure a great job!
How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?
Working at Spencer Clarke Group is so fun, there is a great team spirit and everyone is always rooting for each other to succeed! When I did my first deal, the whole office celebrated with me and it was a great feeling to know they were so happy for me!
I never have the dreaded ‘Sunday night feeling’ as I know the week ahead will be fun and rewarding!
Tell us about your career path so far.
After leaving school, I went to Liverpool John Moores University where I got my degree in Early Years Studies.
Once I graduated, I began my career in Property Management and at the same time, I began to study a Personal Training course. I am really into my fitness so I then decided to pursue personal training as a full time career.
After a while, I realised that it wasn’t sustainable to keep this up full time and I wanted to find a career that I could really progress in. That’s when I decided to apply for the role here at Spencer Clarke Group and I feel that my previous experiences in Early Years Studies and personal training have equipped me with the skills I need to succeed in recruitment.
I also still offer online personal training programmes when I’m not busy at Spencer Clarke Group.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I hope my colleagues would describe me as driven, approachable and enthusiastic!
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
I am a very sociable person so I love to find time to catch up with my friends and family!
If I am to go out for a few drinks and a nice meal, Manchester is my go-to place, I love the atmosphere and vibe the city has to offer.
Tell us something we’d never guess about you!
I once won a competition on the radio for singing the longest musical note!
What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?
Here at Spencer Clarke Group, we have a leaderboard to track how many interviews and placements we have made and I would love to get right to the top of this one day.
I have also set myself some personal goals for what I want to achieve in the long term and I am extremely focused on hitting these targets.
I think it’s important to always have short and long term goals in mind!
