Spencer Clarke Group Raises £2,889 For Lancashire Mind

We’re thrilled to announce that we have raised £2,889 for mental health charity Lancashire Mind by taking on the gruelling Tough Mudder.
Our eighteen strong team tackled 22 world-famous obstacles over a muddy 10km course. The obstacles included Arctic Enema, The Block Ness Monster, Electroshock Therapy and Mud Mile.
After setting up a JustGiving page to collect donations, we successfully smashed our £2,000 target!
Through Lancashire Mind, the money will go towards providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Lancashire Mind also campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding around mental health problems.
To decide which charity would be selected to receive the sponsorship funds, employees were asked to nominate a charity which was close to their heart.
Graphic Designer, Luke Meeks, who nominated Lancashire Mind said, “Unfortunately, I've had three male suicides in the family and it was simply because these men didn't have the right services for them to use. Mind offers free counselling and workshops to everyone who is struggling with their mental health.”
Meeks continued, “Although it's important for everyone to talk, I believe there has been a real let down in the current services for men and it has had devastating consequences.”
With sad statistics such as one in four experiencing a mental health problem and suicide being the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK, Lancashire Mind has a mammoth challenge to tackle which requires ongoing financial support.
“The Spencer Clarke Group vision is to positively impact lives and taking on Tough Mudder to support a local charity is something which goes hand in hand with our vision” said Managing Director, Mike Shorrock.
Meeks added, “Tough Mudder was one of the more challenging ventures which we have taken on for charity but I couldn’t be more proud of our team for completing it and raising so much money in the process.”
