Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Burnley, Lancashire

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working in a primary school setting and possess the skills to provide 1:1 support to children with diverse learning needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Burnley.

Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with SEN needs within our vibrant primary school environment. Working closely with individual students, you will provide tailored assistance to help them overcome barriers to learning, both academically and behaviorally. The ideal candidate will be patient, compassionate, and committed to promoting inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to children with SEN needs, assisting them with classwork and behavioral challenges.
  • Implement individualised learning strategies and interventions to support the progress and development of each student.
  • Collaborate effectively with the classroom teacher and SENCO to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, identifying areas for further support and intervention as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting self-esteem and confidence.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and ensure the well-being and safety of all students at all times.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification related to working with children in schools, such as Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Previous experience working with SEN children, preferably within a primary school setting.
  • Strong behavior management skills and the ability to engage and motivate lively learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusive education and ensuring the success of every child.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards supporting diverse learning needs.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) is essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
