Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Locum Consultant Rheumatologist to join our clients rheumatology team in Preston. The team is composed of experienced consultants, junior medical staff, six specialist nurses, and a full Allied Health Professional (AHP) team. The successful candidate will also be part of the Integrated Musculoskeletal, Pain, and Rheumatology Service (IMPReS), working closely with colleagues from a variety of specialties to provide prompt and high-quality care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and provide expert clinical care to patients with a range of rheumatological conditions including inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and musculoskeletal disorders. Your role will include diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and monitoring of patient progress.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists to ensure holistic, patient-centered care. You will play a key role in team discussions, sharing your knowledge and contributing to joint decision-making processes.
- Provide high-level consultations for new and follow-up patients, ensuring thorough assessments and accurate diagnoses. You will utilize your clinical expertise to develop personalized care plans for patients with complex needs.
- Provide supervision and support to junior doctors, allied health professionals, and other team members. As a Consultant, you will offer guidance and education, helping to foster a learning environment within the department.
- Lead and contribute to the development of care pathways for rheumatology patients, ensuring that clinical protocols reflect the latest evidence-based practices. Work to continuously improve service delivery to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure high standards of clinical documentation and adhere to regulatory requirements. Participate in clinical audits, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in rheumatology and engage in ongoing professional development. You will have access to a variety of learning opportunities and will be encouraged to attend relevant conferences, training programs, and seminars.
Essential Requirements:
- MRCP or equivalent qualification.
- Full GMC Registration with a valid license to practice.
- CCST in Rheumatology (or within 6 months of accreditation).
- Educational Training - Clinical Supervision competence.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- MD or PhD.
- MSc or higher qualification in rheumatology.
- ACLS/ALS certification.
- Management training course.
Experience:
- Significant experience in rheumatology with the ability to manage complex cases.
- Experience in outpatient clinics and inpatient care, with a focus on managing musculoskeletal and autoimmune disorders.
- Ability to work independently as a consultant, with strong decision-making skills.
- Proven ability to deliver high-quality patient care and manage a busy caseload.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to teach and supervise junior medical staff and other healthcare professionals.
- Own Transport: Required for travel between sites.
