Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist. Our substance misuse client are dedicated to supporting individuals affected by addiction. Our multidisciplinary team provides high-quality care, aiming to create positive outcomes for service users and their families. The post holder will lead a multidisciplinary team, support service development, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our clinical interventions. Your work will directly impact the lives of service users, ensuring they receive the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality psychiatric care.
  • Provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with substance misuse and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Offer clinical leadership, ensuring the application of evidence-based practice and adherence to best practice guidelines.
  • Supervise and support the prescribing of complex pharmacological treatments, including opiate substitution therapy and detoxification regimes.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies, including non-statutory services, to ensure holistic service provision.
  • Participate in clinical audits and service evaluations to enhance care quality and identify areas for development.
  • Contribute to teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice, with an endorsement in Substance Misuse and MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience leading a multidisciplinary team.
  • Application of evidence-based practice and clinical auditing skills.
  • Section 12 approved or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of addiction psychiatry, including management of opiate substitution therapy, detoxification processes, and post-detoxification pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with substance misuse and mental health issues, with a clear ability to deliver high-quality services.
  • Sound knowledge of prescribing practices, including complex and off-license medication management.
  • Ability to assess service users, formulate care plans, and produce written reports.
  • Experience contributing to service development projects.
  • Resilience under pressure and a flexible approach to service demands.
