Director of Finance (Deputy S151)
My client is a Local Authority in the Central London who are looking to appoint an Interim Director of Finance and are working with Spencer Clarke Group to appoint their successful candidate.
About the role:
Based in London (Hybrid):
Provide strategic leadership of the Finance function and act as lead officer providing strategic policy direction and leadership, operational management and financial control for the Finance function.
What's on offer:
- Salary: £800 - £1000 per day, inside IR35.

- Contract type: Contract (37 hrs a week)
- Hours: 09:00 -17:00 Monday to Friday
Responsibilities:
- Lead the promotion and delivery of good financial management across the council, so that public money is safeguarded at all times and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively.
- Act as Council's deputy S151 officer and ensures that the Finance function operates effectively and to the highest possible professional standards.
- Responsible for the strategic and general management of the Finance function in line with priorities laid out in the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, Borough Plan and departmental service plans.
About you:
You will have the following experiences:
- Excellent understanding of the overall context in which local authorities operate, the challenges and opportunities.
- In-depth, relevant financial management knowledge applied in a local authority context.
- Substantial experience of leading local authority Finance teams.
