We are seeking an Executive Support Team Leader for a Local Authority Client based in East London.

                                                                                                                  

In this role, you will provide comprehensive executive support to the mayor, manage Mayoral meetings and engagements, and ensure efficient operations within the Mayor's Office team.

 

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Maintain comprehensive executive support provision for the mayor, including handling correspondence, phone calls, visitors, diary management, and organizing team meetings.
  • Coordinate and ensure the smooth running of Mayoral meetings and associated governance processes, from agenda setting to minuting meetings and following up on actions.
  • Facilitate engagement between directorates, key stakeholders, Cabinet Members, and officers, managing sensitive conversations and prioritizing workloads for the mayor.
  • Supervise the Executive Support Assistants, ensuring effective support for the Mayor's Office and maintaining service standards.
  • Manage the Mayor's incoming/outgoing correspondence, draft communications, and coordinate engagement with residents, MPs, council members, and external agencies.

 

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience in strategic leadership and team management within a similar organisational setting, ideally in a local authority or public sector environment.
  • Experience in executive support functions, including diary management, meeting coordination, correspondence handling, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong understanding of local government structures, decision-making processes, and governance procedures.
  • Experience in talent management, employee engagement, and performance management strategies to enhance team performance and productivity.

 

What’s on offer

Salary: £30+per hour

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

 

Contract type: 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

 

Hours:  Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
