Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Group Manager to act as a resource for social care teams, enhancing their understanding of the SEND Local Offer, EHC needs assessment and planning processes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
As Group Manager you will have a strong understanding of both social care and SEND legislative and procedural frameworks to ensure that our local authority client in Southeast London is meeting their statutory responsibilities under the Children & Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in social work with in-depth knowledge and understanding of social care processes and the SEND legislation.
- Proven ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including young people with SEND, their families and those within social care, education and health.
- Ability to engage and communicate effectively with vulnerable children and young people with a range of complex needs and behaviours.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with senior managers and service leads to ensure social care meets statutory responsibilities.
- Contribute to EHC needs assessment and planning processes whilst displaying a strong knowledge of the local offer.
- Advise on social care aspects with regards to SEND Tribunal and Mediations.
Skills required:
- Ability to balance social care and the local authorities best interests whilst aiming to achieve the most positive outcomes for children with SEND.
- Innovative decision-making skills and ability to successfully lead constructive change.
- Proficient in understanding, analysing and effectively presenting complex information.
