Head of Service (Family Help) **

We are working with a Local Authority in the Catford area seeking a Head of Service to work within their Family Help Service.

Offering a 3-6 month agency contract with potential for ongoing extension, this full-time position (35 hours) is based in SE6. (Required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. The expectation will be 3 days in the office on average)

The competitive rate of pay is £384 - £500 per day, negotiable based on experience.

About the Role:

  • This post provides strategic leadership and you will be responsible for the quality of performance and practice in the operational area.
  • You will have 2-4 direct reports and overall responsibility for the staff group and budget in their area.
  • We are seeking candidates who are qualified social workers with a thorough technical knowledge of the requirements of Working Together 2023, the Pan London Child Protection Procedures and other relevant safeguarding statutory guidance.
  • You will demonstrate a good understanding of the DfE families First for Children programme of reform.
  • You will demonstrate a track record of practice improvement and an in depth understanding of the Signs of Safety practice framework.
  • You will have experience in senior management which includes managing complex frontline operational safeguarding practice.
  • You will be ambitious for children and families and be able to lead the workforce to deliver effective services to improve the lives of children and young people.

Experience Needed:

  • Head of Service experience.
  • Strategic Leadership experience.
  • Local Authority / Public Sector.
