Highways Maintenance Project Engineer

Location: West Yorkshire

Pay: £40 - £50 per hour dependent on experience

Contract: 3-months ongoing

 

Our client, a local authority in West Yorkshire, is seeking a skilled Highways Maintenance Project Engineer to join their Traffic, Engineering, and Design team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both highways maintenance and improvements, with a focus on designing schemes for small to medium improvement projects such as active travel or junction improvements.

 

Overall Purpose of the Post

  • Design new highway construction schemes and small to medium improvement schemes.
  • Facilitate legal agreements, design reviews, and checks, and monitor S278 schemes.
  • Provide expert advice on highway design, construction, and traffic management to various stakeholders.

 

Qualifications/Experience Needed

  • Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., HND or equivalent) in civil engineering or equivalent theoretical and procedural knowledge.
  • Substantial personal development of skills and knowledge to an equivalent of IEng level.
  • Comprehensive experience in highway construction and/or maintenance.
  • Good understanding of relevant computer software (AutoCAD, Key Systems, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of project management and delivery processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of national and local standards.
  • Ability to analyze and report on complex highway engineering problems.
  • Extensive relevant background experience in Traffic, Engineering, and Design.
  • Theoretical knowledge in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Experience in analyzing and reporting on complex highway engineering problems.
