£280 - £300 per day

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) SEND Officer for our local authority client in London.

The PfA SEND Officer will coordinate Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments for a caseload of young people aged 14-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), leading to the creation of high quality and person centred EHCPs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working for a local authority, with a strong understanding of SEND legislation and the PfA framework.
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing with complex cases and managing a demanding caseload.
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to draft clear and concise plans.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Ensure that all casework is completed to a high standard whilst maintaining accurate records and adhering to local authority policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with service providers and families to ensure that the provision outlined in the EHCP is being delivered effectively and within the statutory timeframe.
  • Support the transition of young people with SEND into adulthood, ensuring a seamless process and the appropriate provision is in place.

Skills required:

  • Ability to identify risks and opportunities in service delivery, particularly in relation to PfA transitions, and escalate these to management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with external partners, young people with SEND and their families.
  • Able to provide advice and recommendations within defined policy and procedures to support informed decision making.
