Are you passionate about supporting young people to reach their potential? Are you looking for a role that's as rewarding as it is challenging? We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) school that supports looked-after children.
This is an incredible opportunity to work with young people who deserve the very best care, guidance, and education to thrive.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored academic and emotional support to looked-after children, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver engaging lessons and create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.
  • Be a trusted adult, offering consistency and understanding to young people who have experienced significant challenges in their lives.
  • Support students during transitions, managing challenging behavior in a calm and compassionate way.
  • Liaise with the wider pastoral team, social workers, and other professionals to support each student's unique needs.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Empathetic and nurturing, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Resilient and patient, able to stay calm under pressure and adapt to different situations.
  • A strong communicator, able to build trust and rapport with children, colleagues, and external agencies.
  • Flexible and proactive, with the ability to support both academic learning and emotional development.

While prior experience in SEMH settings, care, or education is beneficial, we welcome applicants who are eager to learn and grow. Full training will be provided.

Why Join Us?

  • The chance to truly transform young lives and help children achieve their potential.
  • A supportive and inclusive team committed to your professional development.
  • Access to specialized training in SEMH, trauma-informed practices, and behavior management.
  • A role where no two days are the same and every day has a purpose.
