Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have a natural ability to build positive relationships and help students succeed in a nurturing environment?
We are looking for a dedicated Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and dynamic team at our SEMH school in Marple, Stockport. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with secondary-aged students who face a range of challenges, both academic and emotional. You will be an essential part of their learning journey, helping to create an inclusive environment where they can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities.
  • Support students with their emotional regulation, social skills, and overall well-being.
  • Help students engage in classroom activities and improve their academic performance.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to monitor student progress and contribute to their personal development.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with students with SEMH or similar learning needs (desirable).
  • Be compassionate, patient, and empathetic, with a positive attitude towards supporting vulnerable students.
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and confident in managing challenging behaviors.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in supporting learning (Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, preferable).
