Job Opportunity: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Just outside of Lancaster

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have experience working in educational settings and hold relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an SEN Teaching Assistant.

Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as SEN Teaching Assistants. In this role, you will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs, providing tailored support to help them reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them with academic tasks and promoting independence.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with other members of the school staff, including SENCOs and therapists, to ensure the holistic development of students with SEN.
  • Adapt teaching materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school setting.
  • A relevant qualification related to working with children in schools, such as Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different types of SEN, including physical disabilities and communication needs.
  • Experience with communication aids and assistive technology is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
