Job Overview: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to provide tailored assistance to pupils, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and can participate fully in school life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with SEN, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Assist with classroom management and maintaining a conducive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff to plan and deliver effective support.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Help with the preparation and adaptation of learning materials.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by pupils with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
