Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Head of Service to lead and drive the delivery of the SEND & Inclusion strategy for our local authority client in South East England.

As Head of Service, SEND & Inclusion you will strive to ensure the most effective deployment of resources, building capacity and capability to better identify, assess and meet the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong, up-to-date knowledge of current developments in special educational needs, improvement and governance.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and establish integrity with education settings.
  • Significant experience in the innovative design and delivery of complex multi-agency change programmes.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Act as deputy for the Assistant Director of Education and Skills where required.
  • Manage financial budgets to effectively allocate the deployment of limited resources.
  • Succesful collaboration with various teams across the local authority and various education systems.

Skills required:

  • Strong strategic thinking and the ability to use data to inform change to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop and motivate teams to manage a wide portfolio of services.
  • Demonstrated capacity to build and sustain positive and trusting working relationships.
