Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing tailored support to meet their individual needs. This role may involve aspects of personal care and requires someone who is reliable, patient, and committed to making a positive difference in the child’s educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a child with ASD.
  • Assist with the child’s educational and social development, adapting learning materials as needed.
  • Manage and support the child’s behavior, implementing strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, ensuring the child’s comfort and well-being.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create and maintain individualised education plans.
  • Monitor and record the child’s progress, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with ASD.
  • Ability to handle personal care responsibilities with dignity and respect.
  • Strong understanding of behavior management techniques.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to the role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN education or child care.
  • Knowledge of local resources and support networks for SEN children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
