Violence Reduction Officer ***

We are working in partnership with the a Local authority in the Catford area who are looking to appoint a Violence Reduction Officer to work within the 18-25 Mental Health Link Service.

3-6 Month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Full time positions - 35 hours.

Location - SE6.

Rate of Pay - £22.62 per hour. (negotiable on experience)

Main Purpose of the Role:

  • The Violence Reduction Team brings together professionals from the local authority, health services and the police to provide a multi-agency approach to breaking the cycle of involvement in violence; both as victims and as perpetrators.
  • You will assist in the prevention and reduction of crime in Lewisham through case management of individuals with identified mental health issues who have perpetrated or are at risk of violence and struggle to access/engage in mental health services.
  • This will include assessment, report preparation, intervention, case planning and review, as appropriate to the work of the team and service unit.

Summary of Responsibilities & Personal Duties:

  • Take responsibility for a caseload of clients including undertaking initial engagement, assessment of risk, needs and providing support in accessing appropriate services.
  • Undertake and facilitate evidence-based interventions that aim to reduce re-offending, utilising current best practice including a knowledge and understanding of the trauma recovery model and restorative approaches.
  • Facilitate service user access and engagement with required mental health services in order to support prevention/recovery.
  • Undertake the development of individual re-integration plans to meet the needs of offenders. Ensure that needs identified are monitored through the individual action plans and reviewed at regular intervals.
  • Identify a network of agencies and services that will support offenders in the community, with emphasis on addressing the individual needs for education, training, employment, accommodation and health support

Experience Needed;

  • Delivering interventions to address the resettlement needs of S perpetrators, victims or other vulnerable adults.
  • Undertaking initial engagement, assessments of risk.
