Hours: 8:30 am - 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday

Start Date: January

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with complex needs?

We are looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a young boy in Year 4 with complex needs and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. This is a full-time position within a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Leyland area.

About the Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the child receives the support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally. Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will help create a nurturing and structured environment tailored to the child's specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support for a child with complex needs and SEMH in Year 4.
  • Assist in implementing and following the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Support the child with academic tasks, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that encourages growth and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching staff and external professionals to ensure consistency in the child's care and education.
  • Record and monitor progress, providing feedback to the teacher and parents/guardians.
  • Help prepare and adapt classroom resources to meet the child's individual needs.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or complex needs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with the child, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or SEND support is an advantage but not essential.
