Meet The Team - Liam Jones

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Senior Consultant on our education team, Liam Jones to discover the markets he specialises in, what motivates him at work and what's next for him at Spencer Clarke Group.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I joined Spencer Clarke Group in December 2023. From day one everyone was so welcoming and I immediately felt like part of the team!

What markets do you specialise in?

I work on the education team, specialising in secondary education. I place Teachers, Teaching Assistants and cover staff in mainstream secondary schools across Lancashire, on a temporary, permanent or temp - perm basis.

I always like to make sure that I'm on hand to help you find a Teacher for the day, a Teacher to cover maternity leave or a Headteacher for a 6 month contract.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love building relationships with the people I work with. As a recruiter, you can make a genuine impact on somebody’s life and the best way to do this is to really get to know them as a person - once you’ve done this, you can find them their dream role.

What motivates you at work?

The satisfaction of finding somebody a job that they love is motivating in itself. The group camaraderie in the office is also great, everybody always celebrates each other’s successes, and the end of month incentives are also a massive motivator!

There is also the competitive side of me that wants to make sure that any client I work with wants to keep coming back to me because I do the best job.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Spencer Clarke Group is all anybody could ask for in a workplace. Everyone here is so supportive of each other and the general atmosphere in the office is fun with a constant lively buzz across the office.

Tell us about your career path so far.

My career has been varied to say the least! I trained as a Physiotherapist at Manchester Metropolitan University, working on rotation. While doing this, I completed an elective placement in paediatrics. I stayed in my rotational role for a couple of years before getting the opportunity to come to Blackpool as a Paediatric Physiotherapist.

I then decided to try something new and trained as a secondary maths Teacher. After a few years I realised that teaching wasn’t the career for me and I started in education recruitment in 2021 and I haven’t looked back.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think they would describe me as supportive, laid back and witty.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

You would usually find me spending time with my wife and my son, Ezra. I also love to play basketball and recently won the most improved player for my local team.

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I used to play wheelchair basketball for North Wales.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I’m going to continue to grow my desk and provide secondary schools with excellent candidates. I want Spencer Clarke Group to be the go to agency for high school recruitment for every school across Lancashire.
