Meet the Team - Nicole Sherwood

We recently caught up with Content Writer, Nicole Sherwood, to discover more about what her role entails and what advice she would give to her young self.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I began my journey at Spencer Clarke Group in August 2023. It’s such a welcoming environment and encourages everyone to have fun but work hard. 

What does your role entail?

I work in the marketing team as the Content Writer. I write press releases and blogs for the website across the specialisms which we work in. I write blogs which contain career advice, top tips and information about us as a company.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love the creativity behind it and the research that I do as I learn alot from it! I also love the freedom that I have which lets me crack on with my work and complete my own tasks.

What motivates you at work?

I think knowing that you get noticed and get feedback for your hard work is really motivating! Also, the environment is very positive which encourages you to be better and work harder.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Working at SCG is fast paced yet fun. No day is the same but for me I love that! The office is always positive and a good laugh.

Tell us about your career path so far

I went to UCLAN University and got my bachelors in journalism but I decided that I didn't want to pursue this as a career. I then worked in Debenhams for 3 years in a senior position however the store closed down. I then worked at Costa as a Barista Maestro and I worked there for 2 years. Whilst working at Costa, I obtained a masters in the Beatles music industry heritage - it was here where I was encouraged to write more and it encouraged me to get into a writing career. I then found the job at Spencer Clarke Group and I haven't looked back since!

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think they would describe me as hardworking, a good laugh, committed and creative.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work, you’re most likely to find me at the theatre watching a live show, going out for food or having a cosy night in watching a film!

I have an obsession with Marilyn Monroe!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I want to learn more and see what's in store! I also want to improve my writing skills and knowledge of marketing!

Florence in Italy!

Don't hold back on anything and have fun!

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

A bottle of water, some food and a pillow!

Do you have any pets?

Yes, 3 cats and a tortoise.

Do you have any hidden talents?

No, unfortunately I haven't.

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

I haven’t been to one!

What animal is your spirit animal?

A turtle because everyone thinks they are slow, calm and quiet but they have more to them than that and I love the sea.

What’s your guilty pleasure? 

Coca cola and pringles - strange I know!
