Spencer Clarke Group Announces Olympic-Themed Writing Competition For Primary Schools
08 May, 20241-2 minutesFancy winning a stationery and treats hamper for your class to enjoy?
Attention primary schools, Spencer Clarke Group are holding an Olympic-themed writing competition. It's time to put your pens to paper and let your inner poet-tential shine!
We’ve combined the world’s biggest sporting event with the nation's favourite writing day, and we’re challenging aspiring young writers to get creative.
This year is the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games in Paris, and we thought it was worth writing about. So, to celebrate the Olympics, and in honour of National Writing Day on June 19th, we are challenging schools to write an amazing poem that is worthy of an Olympic gold medal.
National Writing Day is an annual celebration of writing, and is a great occasion to inspire school children to be creative and write for fun. The winner of our Olympic Poetry Competition will win an exciting stationery and treats hamper for their class!
What do I have to do?
We are asking primary schools across England to write a poem inspired by the 2024 Olympics. It can be a poem about anything, from your favourite Olympian to an Olympic sport you would love to take part in.
Maybe your poem will be about gymnastic training? Or swimming in the Olympic pool? Or beating an Olympic world record? Maybe you can run as fast as lightning, or you are strong enough to win a medal for weightlifting. Whatever it is, let your poetic passion inspire you.
What are the requirements?
There’s no word limit or requirements to the poem, it doesn’t even have to rhyme. As long as it’s fun, creative and Olympic-themed, it could be a winner.
Remember to write a cool and catchy title for your poem and just imagine that poetry is an Olympic sport, and you’re going for gold!
Who can enter?
All primary schools can enter, the more the merrier. You can work together as a class, or as an individual. It’s up to you. Remember, the more poems you enter from your school, the more chances you have of winning.
Who do I get in touch with?
Entries must be emailed to our Managing Consultant, Jimmy Callagher, on jc@spencerclarkegroup.co.uk. Entries will be judged by our team of trusted education consultants. All entries must include the child/children’s names, class and school name, and terms and conditions apply.
Our competition closes at midnight on Thursday 13th June. So get writing! We look forward to receiving a diverse range of entries. The winner will be announced on National Writing Day (Wednesday 19th June 2024).
Good luck!
