Spencer Clarke Group Donates School Uniforms to Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre
30 Jul, 20241-2 minutesAt Spencer Clarke Group, we’re passionate about supporting our community which is why we’re thrilled to have joined forces with Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre to donate school uniforms to families in need.
We donated over 200 items of school uniform including 8 pairs of shorts, 23 pairs of trousers, 19 jumpers, 45 pairs of socks, 5 school bags, 8 pinafores, 8 skirts, 42 polo shirts and 62 school shirts. The uniform will be distributed to children in need in time for the autumn term.
Earlier this year, we also donated over 100 brand new toys, books, arts and crafts to support families and kids clubs through the school summer holidays.
Home-Start is a leading UK charity that asks people to donate unwanted school uniform items, books and toys for students. The charity covers all schools in the Blackpool area and range from pre-school to secondary school. Last year, Home-Start supported 78,900 children in 43,692 families, in communities across the UK.
In struggling areas like Blackpool, the need for food, supplies and school uniform is greater than ever with more families and working households needing help to support their children. According to Blackpool Council’s Equity Analysis, Blackpool ranks as the most deprived local authority in England in terms of average deprivation scores.
The figures also revealed that 19.8% of all children aged under 16 in Blackpool live in absolute low income families and 34.1% are living in households below 60% median income after housing costs.
As our education division works with schools all over the North West, we’re always looking for ways to get involved to help parents, students and the wider community.
Education Lead Consultant, Paul Best said, “Giving back to those in need is a core part of the Spencer Clarke Group ethos. Home-Start Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre works tirelessly to help families with the challenges they face so being able to support their work is very rewarding.”
