As the exam season comes to an end and after weeks or even months of revision, students are ready to celebrate and have some well deserved fun. Getting through the stressful exam period is an important achievement and an opportunity for students to reap some of the benefits of their hard work.

Go on a class trip
Having something to look forward to after constant revision and studying is crucial and a class trip can be the perfect way for students to have fun, get out of the classroom and end the school year on a high.
A school trip can be anything from a trip to the cinema, theme park, or zoo or a group activity like crazy golf, go karting, bowling, rock climbing or archery. The trip can also act as a final reminder for students of the fun and adventure they had after their revision and exams.
Throw a party or prom
Exams are over, get the party started! For some students, having fun and letting loose is the best way to celebrate the end of exams and Teachers can help make that happen in a safe environment at low cost.
Why not organise a class prom or throw a party for those who are looking for a way to celebrate the end of exam season in style? A class party provides students with the opportunity to dress up, enjoy treats and let loose to some music.
Decorate the school hall and provide food & drink to create the perfect atmosphere. You could play some of the students favourite songs as well as tracks released throughout the school year to let the students have some well deserved fun.
You could even keep the momentum going by providing an awards ceremony to celebrate key achievements, or a silly award ceremony for things like ‘Most likely to..’ ‘Funniest moment of the year,’ ‘Clumsiest’ ‘Class Clown’ etc.
Have a film afternoon
For many students, after weeks of revision and studying, they are looking forward to relaxing and probably doing a lot of nothing. Why not organise a film afternoon in the classroom and let students choose a couple of fun but appropriate films for all to enjoy?
You could ask everyone to bring in drinks, popcorn, chocolate and sweets as well as some comfy cushions and blankets. Dim the lights, project the film onto a big screen or wall to make the perfect cosy atmosphere.
If you want to elevate the movie experience for students, why not take a trip to the cinema to watch a new release on the big screen?
Organise a special class lunch
A nice treat for students is to provide them with a special lunch! Why not organise a class takeaway or take students out for a meal at a local restaurant?
It can be a lunch that is delivered to the school, or a self-made/bought buffet, or even just party food so everyone can sit, eat and talk together. Students can share memories, funny stories or anecdotes while everyone enjoys their food.
If you’re a dab hand in the kitchen, why not bake a ‘Congrats! Exams are over!’ cake for a more personal touch?
Whichever plans you choose, be sure to check for any allergens, dietary and religious restrictions as well as preferences to ensure every pupil feels included and appreciated.
Create a memory wall
A memorable and fun way to celebrate the end of exam season and ultimately the end of the school year, is to create a memory wall in the classroom. Commemorate students' hard work and efforts over the year and especially their commitment to revision by putting together a memory wall in the classroom.
Allow students to design the layout or theme of the memory wall and to decorate it with pictures, drawings, quotes and anecdotes that highlight key dates and moments from the year.
Students can be as creative and spontaneous as they want and include anything they deem to be significant including covers of books they have analysed, historical events they have studied and a showcase of their best work.
Creating a memory wall is a great way to wind down and relax at the end of the exam season and keep students creative, engaged and artistic. Plus everyone can contribute to the wall including Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
Host a game show extravaganza
The last thing students want to do after the exam period is a quiz, but hosting a game show adds a fun little twist! Why not host a game show in the classroom with opportunities for everyone to get involved?
Set up the school hall or classroom in the format of a TV game show, such as CatchPhrase, Jeopardy, or Taskmaster. Split the class into teams with you, the Teacher or one of the students as the host or judge. You could even play the theme song for the show and encourage students to come up with a backstory for their characters.
If you can’t decide which game show to recreate, why not simply play games in the classroom such as classic board games, interactive online games or make up your own?
Teachers can create and host their own game and set pupils a variety of tasks to complete either individually or in groups. From making the farthest flying paper aeroplane to painting the best picture using only their feet, there are many fun challenges and quick games Teachers can prepare to keep everyone engaged.
Make an end of exam video
With TikTok and social media influencing the lives of children and teenagers, why not make an end of exam season video? It could be a group dance, a song or the chance to take part in an online trend.
Make a short film or video, and encourage students to bring in some props, costumes and lights to make the perfect video, good enough to go viral!
Teachers could also film a video of students talking about what they're going to do now their GCSEs are over! What are they looking forward to most? What do they want to be or do when they leave secondary school?
A video is a great keepsake for students and can be a fun way for all students to get involved either in front or behind the camera and collaborate on a fun project.
