Hi, I’m Joel!

I specialise in temporary appointments across the built environment sector, specifically focusing on all levels of planning and building control positions. 

I work alongside local authorities and private planning organisations across the Midlands and North of England recruiting for roles such as Senior Planning Officers. Within building control, I have developed relationships with clients throughout the UK, working on contracts for Building Control Officers, Senior Building Control Surveyors and more! 

After many years working in tech and public sector recruitment, I joined Spencer Clarke Group in 2024.

I love the fast paced nature of recruitment and increasing our presence within planning and building control. Throughout the years, I’ve developed a solid understanding of building regulations and planning policies which have enabled me to match contractors with jobs where they can develop and thrive. 

One day, I hope to have my own team full of hard working, knowledgeable and passionate consultants. I’m always setting myself personal and professional goals - I love having something to work towards as this keeps me motivated and working to my best ability. 

In 2025, we were honoured to be named Best Public/Third Sector Recruitment Agency at the Recruiter Awards. I think this was mainly down to the fantastic relationships we’ve built with hundreds of local authorities. It’s a pleasure to support them with their recruitment challenges and help to bridge skill gaps within planning and building control. 

Outside of work I enjoy taking part in sports such as football, golf and snooker!
