Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Pay: £110 per day

Contract: Full time, ongoing
Spencer Clarke Group are working with a school in Accrington that needs a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant. The role is built around a handful of pupils in Key Stage 2 who are bright, capable and currently spending more time outside the classroom than in it.
The job in plain terms

• Keep those pupils in lessons and learning for as much of the day as possible
• Spot the early signs and step in before a situation turns into an incident
• Use agreed strategies consistently so the pupils know where they stand
• Deliver short interventions on emotional regulation and social skills
• Feed back honestly to the class teacher and SENCO about what is and is not working

What the school need from you

• Previous experience with challenging behaviour, whether in school, care, youth work or sport
• Resilience and a sense of humour
• Consistency, because these pupils test every new adult
• Good written records, the paperwork matters here
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
