Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Pay: £110 per day

Contract: Full time, long term with a view to ongoing
Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Blackburn. The school has a small cohort of pupils who are regularly out of class and they want one steady adult working with them rather than a rota of different faces.
What the role involves

• Working one to one and in small groups with pupils whose behaviour is a barrier to learning
• Using de-escalation to keep pupils regulated and get them back into lessons
• Running short, structured interventions agreed with the SENCO and class teachers
• Keeping clear records of incidents, triggers and what worked
• Being a consistent, calm presence across the school day

What we are looking for

• Experience supporting challenging behaviour in a school, PRU, alternative provision or youth setting
• Patience and the ability to stay calm when a pupil is not
• Willingness to build relationships with pupils who push adults away first
• Team Teach or similar training is useful but not essential, training can be provided
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
