Location: Bedfordshire
Rate: £315 Per day
Contract: 3 Months Ongoing

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a local authority to appoint a Building Surveyor within their commercial property / assets function.

This role focuses on surveying commercial buildings open to the public and schools, identifying defects, specifying and tendering remedial works, and managing delivery on site, ensuring value for money and compliance throughout.

Responsibilities include
* Undertake building surveys on commercial/public buildings and schools to identify defects and required remedial works
* Recommend cost effective, value for money solutions and produce technical specifications for works
* Tender works via an electronic tendering portal and manage the process through to award
* Evaluate tenders and produce written recommendations
* Produce cost estimates and monitor spend against budget, including agreement/negotiation of final accounts on completion
* Manage works on site, driving progress, quality and compliance
* Produce CAD drawings and detailed specifications as required to meet technical and construction standards and best practice
* Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, including identifying and mitigating risks and producing pre-construction information
* Check and verify the Health and Safety file at handover from the contractor

About you
* Proven experience surveying commercial buildings open to the public and schools
* Experience producing specifications, tendering works, and managing delivery on site
* Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and associated project compliance requirements
* Experience producing cost estimates, evaluating tenders and managing budgets through to final account
* CAD capability to produce drawings/specifications where required
* This role is not suitable for candidates whose background is limited to domestic properties or social housing surveying
