We are looking for an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with their emotional wellbeing, mental health and personal development.

You will work closely with young people who may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional difficulties, social challenges or barriers to education. Your role will be to provide a safe, supportive environment where young people feel listened to, valued and able to develop the skills they need to thrive.

The Role
As an Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide individual and small-group emotional wellbeing support.
  • Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
  • Help young people understand and manage their emotions.
  • Support pupils experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress and emotional challenges.
  • Develop and deliver wellbeing activities and interventions.
  • Encourage positive coping strategies, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Support young people to develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to identify and respond to wellbeing needs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and monitor progress.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers and relevant professionals where appropriate.
  • Recognise safeguarding concerns and follow appropriate safeguarding procedures.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and emotionally supportive environment.


About You
We are looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, patient and approachable.
  • An excellent listener and communicator.
  • Experienced in supporting children or young people with emotional wellbeing needs.
  • Calm and confident when dealing with challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Able to build professional boundaries while developing positive relationships.
  • Resilient, reliable and able to work as part of a wider team.
  • Passionate about helping young people develop confidence and achieve their potential.
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one


Experience of working within education, alternative provision, SEND, SEMH, pastoral support, youth work or mental health services would be desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
