Interim Assistant Director - Planning
Location: North East England
Rate: £1000 - £1200 per day
Contract: 6 months minimum
Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a large Local Authority in the North East who are recruiting an Interim Assistant Director to lead a significant Planning service area. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for delivery across development management priorities, service performance, improvement and strong stakeholder leadership.
Responsibilities include
- Leading a major service area with significant budgets and cross-council responsibilities
- Driving innovation, service improvement and value for money
- Leading and developing teams, setting high standards and addressing underperformance
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships and networks locally, regionally and nationally
- Providing clear professional advice in a political environment, including in public forums
About you
- Proven senior leadership experience in a complex service environment
- Strong development management background aligned to regeneration and growth ambitions
- Strong budget, performance and people management track record
- Confident operating in a political environment with excellent communication skills
- Established networks you can use to support service delivery
- RTPI membership is required
