The school provides a supportive and inclusive learning environment for secondary-aged pupils who require additional support to access education. Pupils may have needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, communication needs and additional learning difficulties.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging, accessible and differentiated Maths lessons, helping pupils develop their numeracy, problem-solving skills, confidence and independence.

We welcome applications from experienced SEND Maths Teachers, mainstream secondary Maths Teachers looking to transition into specialist education, and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a genuine interest in SEND.

The Role:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons to secondary-aged pupils within a specialist school.

  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a wide range of SEND and additional learning needs.

  • Deliver differentiated Maths lessons that support pupils working at different academic levels.

  • Develop pupils' numeracy, reasoning, problem-solving and functional Maths skills.

  • Support pupils working towards appropriate qualifications and individual learning targets.

  • Use creative and practical teaching strategies to improve engagement.

  • Implement individual learning plans and contribute towards EHCP outcomes.

  • Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.

  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.

  • Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, SENDCOs and wider support professionals.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and inclusive practice.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification suitable for the role.

  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence teaching secondary Mathematics.

  • Experience teaching Maths within a secondary or specialist school setting.

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND is desirable but not essential.

  • Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH and differentiated teaching strategies.

  • Ability to adapt lessons for pupils working below age-related expectations.

  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.

  • Confidence supporting pupils with behavioural, emotional or communication needs.

  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

Mainstream Maths Teachers looking to move into specialist education are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Permanent, full-time position within a specialist secondary school.

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience.

  • Opportunity to teach Maths within a supportive SEND environment.

  • Smaller teaching groups and opportunities to provide individualised support.

  • Work alongside experienced specialist education professionals.

  • Opportunity to develop your SEND teaching knowledge and expertise.

  • Make a meaningful difference to pupils who benefit from a personalised approach to education.
