Details:

About the role:

As a Teaching Assistant at Progress Schools Wolverhampton, you will play a key role in supporting young people aged 11-16 who may have struggled to engage with mainstream education or require a more personalised approach to learning.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access their education, develop confidence, regulate their emotions and build positive relationships with staff and peers.

Progress Schools Wolverhampton provides a small, nurturing and supportive environment, with a strong focus on understanding each young person's individual needs, aspirations and goals. You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to remove barriers to learning and help pupils make positive progress towards their future.

The role would suit someone who is passionate about working with young people and who can provide the consistency, patience and resilience needed to support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour or have experienced difficulties within mainstream education.

We welcome applicants with experience in:

Care work, youth work, support work, security, military, nursing, police, sports coaching, residential settings or other challenging and high-responsibility environments.

Previous experience working in a school, alternative provision, SEMH or SEN setting would be highly advantageous, but is not essential.

You'll need:

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • The ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The confidence to support pupils who may display challenging behaviour or become dysregulated
  • The ability to remain consistent and professional in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers to education
  • A willingness to support pupils both academically and pastorally

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a small and supportive school where you can make a genuine difference to the lives of young people. Full training and ongoing support provided. Apply today and make a real difference every day.
