SEN Teaching Assistant - Oxford

We are seeking a committed and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist school in Oxford, helping children and young people with special educational needs reach their full potential.

About the role

You will support children and young people with a range of special educational needs, providing 1:1, small-group and whole-class support to help them engage with their learning and achieve their individual goals.

Depending on the needs of the pupils, you may support children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), cognition and learning needs, communication difficulties and behavioural or emotional needs.

Your role will involve helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build positive relationships and develop greater confidence and independence.

You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each pupil receives consistent, individualised support.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.
• Supporting children to access classroom learning and activities.
• Helping pupils develop their confidence, communication and independence.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Supporting individual learning and behaviour plans.
• Creating a calm, safe and structured learning environment.
• Supporting pupils during lessons, transitions, break times and activities.
• Where required, assisting with personal care and pupils' wider wellbeing.
• Working closely with teachers and other professionals.
• Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay.
