Student Behaviour Support - SEN School


We are looking for a resilient and compassionate Student Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEN school, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, ASC and challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide individualised support, helping pupils manage their behaviour, regulate their emotions and engage positively with education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support
  • Support pupils with SEMH, ASC and challenging behaviour
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement with learning
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral/SEN team
  • Follow individual behaviour and support plans
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence and wellbeing

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Patient, calm and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain professional in challenging situations
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Spencer Clarke Group work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area. We deal with teaching placements at Primary, Secondary, Special Education needs and college level as well as support staff positions also within these.
