Area Maintenance Surveyor

Rate: Negotiable
Contract: 3 - 6 Months

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting an established Local Authority in the South West who are seeking an experienced Area Maintenance Surveyor to support day-to-day property maintenance delivery across a housing portfolio.

This is a hands-on, site based role focused on inspections, diagnosing defects, raising works, and managing contractors to ensure safe, compliant and customer-focused outcomes.

Responsibilities include

• Carrying out property inspections for responsive repairs, voids and maintenance issues
• Diagnosing building defects and specifying remedial works
• Raising works using Schedule of Rates where applicable and monitoring progress to completion
• Managing contractor performance, quality, cost control and health and safety on site
• Producing clear reports and maintaining accurate records
• Liaising with residents, colleagues and contractors to resolve issues quickly and professionally

About you

• Proven experience in a maintenance / housing surveying role, ideally within a council or social housing environment
• Strong knowledge of building pathology and repair diagnostics
• Confident managing contractors and inspecting works on site
• Strong written communication and report writing
• Relevant qualification is beneficial, or equivalent experience
