Building Surveyor
Location: West Midlands
Rate: Negotiable
Contract: 3 - 6 months
Spencer Clarke Group are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to support a large public sector property portfolio, working closely with internal property teams and a PMO function delivering capital works.
This is a hands-on role focused on building compliance, safety and technical surveying, with exposure to a broad and complex estate including heritage assets and a range of commercial and industrial buildings.
Responsibilities include
- Ensuring compliance and safety across a varied portfolio estate
- Coordinating with partner teams day-to-day to maintain statutory and regulatory compliance
- Supporting delivery of capital projects alongside a PMO/capital delivery team
- Advising on legislation, regulatory issues, conservation constraints and planning considerations
- Acting as Contract Administrator across varied works programmes
- Undertaking or supporting the Principal Designer function
- Supporting building safety activity, including fire and asbestos related governance
About you
- RICS qualified / Chartered (MRICS/FRICS)
- Strong building surveying background within a complex property environment
- Confident on current legislation and compliance frameworks
- Comfortable handling multiple workstreams to tight deadlines
- Experience across heritage buildings (Grade I/II, scheduled ancient monuments) and commercial/industrial assets is highly beneficial
