Educational Psychologist

A great opportunity is available for a suitably qualified and highly motivated Educational Psychologist to join a forward-thinking and ambitious local authority educational psychology service in London.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with children and young people, families, education professionals and wider multi-agency teams to develop a holistic understanding of individual strengths, needs and circumstances. You will use psychological theory, evidence-based practice and professional judgement to inform assessment, consultation, intervention and recommendations that support positive educational, developmental and wellbeing outcomes.

The role

• You will be required to work directly with children and young people to develop a holistic understanding of their strengths, needs, experiences and aspirations, ensuring their views and voice remain central to assessment, planning and decision-making.

• You must be able to conduct high-quality psychological assessments within agreed timescales, drawing on a range of appropriate assessment methods, observations, consultations and psychological frameworks to develop a comprehensive understanding of each child or young person's needs.

• You will develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, educators, and parents/carers to implement effective support plans.

• You must develop and deliver tailored interventions to support learning, emotional wellbeing, and social development.

• You must produce clear, high-quality, person-centred reports that are person-centred, evidence-informed and accessible to children and young people, families and professionals, with recommendations that are practical, meaningful and focused on positive outcomes.

• You will contribute to service development and promote inclusive practices.

• You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop formulations and intervention plans.

• You will champion inclusion and positive outcomes by supporting educational settings and wider services to understand and respond effectively to individual differences, reduce barriers to participation and create environments in which children and young people can feel understood, valued and supported.

About you

• You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist/Educational Psychologist and meet all relevant professional requirements.

• You must have significant experience of working in an educational psychology service within a local authority.

• You must be able to deliver a psychological service (including statutory and non-statutory work) across a range of settings to support children, young people, schools and families.

• You must demonstrate a strong and up-to-date knowledge of SEND legislation.

• You must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop effective relationships with children, parents, schools and other professionals.

• You must be confident working within multi-agency and multidisciplinary environments, contributing psychological expertise while working collaboratively with education, health, social care and other professionals.

• You will be adept in facilitating and implementing change across complex local authority systems.

• You are passionate about making a positive contribution to the educational psychology service and the children and young people they support.
