Family Help Lead Practitioner

We are currently recruiting for a Family Help Practitioner to join a dedicated Family Help team within a local authority setting in the Berkshire area.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children, young people and families, delivering strengths-based interventions that build resilience, improve outcomes and help prevent the need for ongoing statutory involvement. You will play a key role in supporting families through early intervention, coordinating multi-agency support and empowering families to create sustainable positive change.

As a Family Help Practitioner, you will manage a caseload of families, carrying out whole-family assessments and delivering practical support tailored to individual needs. Acting as a Lead Practitioner where appropriate, you will coordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) arrangements and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of families and deliver strengths-based interventions.
• Complete whole-family assessments and develop outcome-focused support plans.
• Lead and coordinate Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings as Lead Practitioner.
• Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals and partner agencies.
• Deliver direct support to children, young people and families to improve wellbeing and outcomes.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure children's voices remain central to all interventions.

Key Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject or equivalent experience working with children and families.
• Experience delivering direct interventions within a statutory or voluntary sector setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, thresholds and early help services.
• Knowledge of child development and the impact of trauma, mental health, domestic abuse and other family vulnerabilities.
• Excellent assessment, communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and build effective professional relationships.

Contract Type: 3-6 months (with view to extend)
Pay Rate: £20.02 PAYE
Working pattern - 37 hours per week, HYBRID.
