Financial Analyst - Education Finance (Interim)

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority in the Midlands to appoint an Interim Financial Analyst within its Education Finance team.

This assignment will support the financial management and strategic planning of the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG), with a focus on Schools and High Needs funding.

What's on Offer

Rate: £400 per day LTD / £316.17 per day PAYE
Contract length: Initial contract until December 2026
Full-time: 37 hours per week
Hybrid working: At least one day per month onsite
Start: September 2026 / subject to notice

The Role

The successful candidate will support a broad range of education funding activity, providing clear financial advice while contributing to the effective management of the DSG.

Key responsibilities:

1. Monitoring and forecasting the DSG, including the Schools and High Needs Blocks.
2. Supporting the monitoring and delivery of the DSG management plan.
3. Producing financial analysis, reconciliations and clear reports for budget holders.
4. Providing advice and guidance to Education colleagues, schools and other partners.
5. Identifying financial pressures, risks and opportunities and supporting appropriate action.
6. Delivering change projects and improving financial processes and services.
7. Contributing to strategic financial planning for education funding.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Recent hands-on DSG finance experience within a Local Authority - essential.
• High Needs Block and/or SEND finance experience - desirable.
• AAT qualified or qualified by experience, with strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
