Finance & Performance Manager - Interim

Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority in the South East to appoint an Interim Finance & Performance Manager to support financial planning, performance reporting and governance across the organisation.

This is a key interim assignment focused on delivering accurate, insightful reporting and supporting effective financial and organisational decision-making.

What's on Offer

Rate: £450 - £500 per day
Contract length: 6 months initially, with possible extension
Full-time
Hybrid - expected two days per week
Start: ASAP / subject to notice

The Role

The successful candidate will coordinate finance and performance reporting, maintain robust data quality and provide clear analysis to senior officers, Members and governance groups.

Key responsibilities:

1. Producing quarterly performance reports and monthly monitoring packs.
2. Ensuring finance, performance and workforce data is accurate and consistent.
3. Preparing clear reports, presentations and briefings for senior leaders and Members.
4. Monitoring transformation expenditure against budgets, forecasts and business cases.
5. Coordinating the annual fees and charges review across service areas.
6. Managing and reconciling financial control totals throughout the planning and budgeting cycle.

About You

You will ideally have:

• Experience in finance, performance, planning or business management within a Local Authority or wider public sector organisation.
• Strong experience producing reports, presentations and briefing papers for senior officers, leadership teams and elected Members.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting financial and performance information.
