Inclusion & Wellbeing Mentor

We are looking for a dedicated Inclusion & Wellbeing Mentor to join a specialist SEMH setting. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people develop confidence, emotional resilience and the skills they need to succeed both in education and beyond.

The Role
As an Inclusion & Wellbeing Mentor, you will provide individualised pastoral and emotional support to young people who may struggle with anxiety, emotional regulation, behaviour, engagement and relationships.
You will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, understood and supported, while encouraging them to develop positive behaviours and re-engage with their education.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group mentoring and wellbeing support.
• Building strong, trusting and consistent relationships with young people.
• Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, confidence and resilience.
• Helping young people understand and manage their emotions and behaviours.
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
• Using a calm, patient and trauma-informed approach.
• Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and improve their engagement.
• Delivering targeted interventions around wellbeing, behaviour and personal development.
• Supporting pupils to develop positive communication and social skills.
• Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Contributing to individual support plans and monitoring pupil progress.
• Maintaining a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with young people with SEMH needs.
• Is confident supporting challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation.
• Can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Is calm, patient, resilient and emotionally intelligent.
• Has a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Can remain consistent and positive during challenging situations.
• Is confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries.
• DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

Experience within an SEMH school, alternative provision, residential setting, youth work, behaviour support or similar environment would be highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
