School Caretaker - Wirral

Due to an increase in demand from September, we are recruiting reliable and experienced School Caretakers to work across a range of schools throughout the Wirral.
We have a variety of short-term, long-term, and ongoing opportunities available, including full-day positions and split shifts. These roles are ideal for candidates who are practical, dependable, and committed to helping maintain safe, secure, clean, and well-presented school environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and closing school premises
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs
• Ensuring school buildings and outdoor areas are safe, clean, and secure
• Completing routine health and safety and site checks
• Monitoring access to the school site and maintaining site security
• Setting up classrooms, halls, and other areas for school activities and events
• Moving furniture and equipment when required
• Reporting maintenance issues and arranging repairs where necessary
• Supporting with emergency procedures and responding to site-related issues
• Working closely with school staff, contractors, and external service providers
• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe school site

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as a School Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Facilities Assistant, or in a similar maintenance role is desirable
• Good practical, DIY, and basic maintenance skills
• A good understanding of health and safety procedures
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Flexible and willing to work full days or split shifts
• Able to respond calmly and effectively to unexpected issues
• A positive and proactive approach to work
• An Enhanced DBS check may be required, depending on the placement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
