The Role

As a School Cleaner, you will play an important role in ensuring the school is clean, safe and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

  • Vacuuming, mopping and maintaining hard and soft floor surfaces.

  • Emptying bins and replenishing hygiene and cleaning supplies.

  • Dusting, wiping and cleaning furniture, fixtures, fittings and surfaces throughout the school.

  • Following daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules and checklists.

  • Using cleaning products and equipment safely, in line with COSHH and health and safety guidance.

  • Reporting any maintenance issues, defects or potential hazards to the School Business Manager.

About You

We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable and takes pride in their work. You will understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment, particularly within a specialist educational setting.
You will ideally have:

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.

  • A reliable, organised and flexible approach to work.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • An understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and the safe use of cleaning products, or a willingness to learn.

  • The physical ability to undertake cleaning duties and manual handling tasks safely.

  • Previous cleaning experience, ideally within a school or specialist education setting (desirable).
